CSD Update – May 21, 2020

The Calais School Department will continue preparing meals through the end of June. Deliveries and pick ups will remain the same as it is.

Note to Seniors and  parents/guardians – Unfortunately due to the CDC and State of Maine recommendations and guidelines for the COVID 19 pandemic, we are cancelling Class Trips and Prom.  For Seniors and Senior Parents/Guardians, we are seeking input from students and families for commencement exercises. Though these are uniques times with uniques guidelines, we are dedicated to honoring our graduating Seniors. Please complete the appropriate survey by Wednesday, May 27, 2020 so we can move forward making plans for Commencement.

Reminders:

The last official day of school for the Calais School Department will be Friday, June 5th. If your student has any missing work, please get that missing assignments submitted. Teachers are being flexible with due dates and would like to have the work submitted to ensure passing grades.

The Calais Middle/High School is working through the NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation process. We are requesting parents of middle and/or high school students complete the NEASC survey at  https://surveys.neasc.org/s3/NEASC-CPS-Family-Survey-2022?id=6 and students complete the student survey that will be provided through your English Google Classrooms.

Please be sure to watch our website and/or Calais School Department’s Facebook page from May 20 – 29, 2020. During that time we will be hosting a Virtual Honor Assembly for our top 7 ranking Seniors. Each day we will spotlight a different honor part with a video from a staff member that Senior chose to speak on their behalf. We began posting videos on May 20th with a video for our 7th honor part and finish with our Valedictorian’s video on May 29th.

Because the on-site school year ended abruptly, we will be scheduling times when students will be able to come into the school and clean out their lockers. This will begin on Tuesday, May 26th go through Friday, June 5th. Due to the State social distancing guidelines these times must be scheduled. Please contact Karyn or Sandie in the CM/HS front office at 454-2591.

Stay safe,
